Arthit was staring. He couldn’t help it.
They were at Bright’s bar and Kongpob was dancing with the girls, while Arthit sat at the bar. He was ostensibly talking to Bright who was behind the bar and Knott, who was on the stool next to him. He wasn’t listening though. He wasn’t even facing his two friends. All of his attention was focused on his boyfriend.
Now, Arthit was generally a shy person. He wasn’t generally a very sexual person either, having come to the conclusion that he was demisexual not long before. However, Kong flipped a switch in him. If he had thought about it, he would have been sure the alcohol and the comfortable atmosphere had something to do with it too. It was past midnight and so technically the bar was closed. The only people who remained were Bright’s friends. Arthit’s friends. So he felt bold. And looked.
Arthit took a sip of his whisky as Kong burst into laughter at something May had said. The red and blue lights from the dance floor glanced against his upturned face, turning him into something out of a Hollywood movie. It made Arthit’s heart clench in his chest and he smiled reflexively.
“Aoooow, Arthit!” He heard from behind him. He glanced back, to see Bright and Knott looking at him knowingly, with smirks on their faces.
“What?” He put on his best approximation of his ‘Head Hazer’ look, which fooled his friends not at all and they burst into laughter.
“You look like you want to eat him! I don’t think I’ve ever seen that look on your face before, man. You’ve got it bad.” Bright said through his giggles. He pretended to wipe tears from his eyes. “Our Ai’Oon is finally growing up, Knott.” Knott acknowledged this with a chuckle of his own and a tip of his beer bottle towards Bright.
Arthit faked a punch at Bright. “Who’s your Ai’Oon?” Bright ducked his head, still laughing. Arthit gave him a swat on his head for his trouble.
The song ended and it brought Arthit’s attention back to the small dance floor. Kong was looking at him with quiet fondness. The girls began to giggle and start looking for their purses, clearly signalling they were ready to leave.
The next few minutes were filled with ‘goodbyes’ and ‘see you tomorrows.’ Arthit tried to pay attention to this, he really did. When he felt a slight tap on his shoulder though, he realized that he and Kong had been looking at each other for a definitely inappropriate and noticeable length of time.
He looked up and saw the kind face of N’Prae smiling back at him. “Che kan, P’Arthit.” She winked and he coughed slightly. “Che kan.” He waiied at May and Maprang as well.
As soon as they were gone, Arthit looked back to the dance floor and Kong. A slow song was playing now.
Bright cleared his throat behind Arthit and started, “Ai’Knott, I have to change the barrels. Come help?”
Knott sighed and acquiesced. They headed for the cellar and then Arthit and Kongpob were alone in the bar.
Kongpob raised his arms and motioned for Arthit to come to him. Arthit guffawed and shook his head, looking down. “I don’t know how to dance, Kongpob.”
“I’ll show you, P’.” Kong returned. “It’s not that hard when it’s a slow song.”
Arthit looked up at his boyfriend. He looked as though he was holding his hand out for a skittish animal and Arthit chuckled, before looking around them to make sure they were actually alone.
Kong flexed his hands once more and Arthit nodded, before stepping closer and taking his hands.
As soon as he was within the circle of Kong’s arms, he was pulled even closer to his boyfriend. Kong rested his hands on Arthit’s hips and began swaying slightly.
“Is this it?” Arthit asked, amused. He could feel his cheeks heating up, though. They were closer than they’d been all day and Arthit was enjoying it immensely.
Kong smiled, “Pretty much.” He took Arthit’s hands and put them around his own neck. They swayed together for a few minutes, even when the song changed to a kpop track. Eventually, Arthit wasn’t sure how exactly, Kongpob was kissing him lightly.
Arthit pulled back from Kong’s lips, though not out of his arms. “Kongpob! We’re out in public.”
Kong brought his hand up to Arthit’s forehead and smoothed the lines out. Arthit let out a huff of exasperatedly indulgent laughter. Kongpob smiled widely and brought his hand back down to Arthit’s hip.
“We’re barely in public, P’Arthit. The door’s locked and we’ll definitely hear P’Bright and P’Knott before they come back up. I’ve been waiting to kiss you all day, P.” Kongpob pretended to pout.
Arthit hemmed and hawed for a few moments before his eyes were caught by Kongpob’s lips in the pout. Dammit. How was Kong so good at playing him like a flute? Arthit sighed and looked around himself once more before he took a deep breath and went for it.
Their lips met and Arthit let out a sigh. Kong’s lips were so soft, he wanted to sleep on them.
Kong lips opened on a breath and he nipped Arthit’s top lip. His hand ran up Arthit’s side, to his face. He held Arthit’s head steady with it as he deepened the kiss.
“Mmph.” Arthit protested mildly, but he pulled Kongpob closer with the arms around his neck. He opened his mouth and let Kongpob’s tongue in, rubbing against it with his own.
They pulled apart, breathing heavily. They set their foreheads together before Arthit dove back in, taking control this time.
The next time they pulled apart, their lips were red and swollen, it was obvious what they had been doing. Kong groaned at the sight and closed his eyes briefly. “Shit, P.” Kong pulled Arthit’s face back to his own and plundered his mouth, rubbing his thumb up and down Arthit’s cheek as he held him close.
“P’Arthit, you’re such a good kisser.” He sighed into Arthit’s ear as they continued to sway to music only they could hear.
Arthit scoffed in disbelief.
“You are, the best I’ve ever had.” Kongpob pulled away once again and looked Arthit up and down, now it was he who looked hungry. “Let’s go home.”
Arthit swallowed, “Okay.”
A few minutes later, Bright and Knott came back up to an empty bar.
